New Entrepreneurship Center Opens in Arcata — Ribbon Cutting Set for Sept. 7

Greenway Partners' entrepreneurship center

It might be easy to have an idea for a good product or service, but turning that idea into something real can be hard. Greenway Partners’ new center for entrepreneurs, called the Link, is designed to help early stage businesses and other organizations develop the skills and connections they need to get their ideas off the ground and running.

To celebrate the opening of the Link, Greenway Partners invites the public to a ribbon cutting from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7, at the Greenway Building, 1385 8th St., in Arcata. The Arcata Chamber of Commerce will do a formal ribbon cutting, and the event will feature a meet and greet with the Link development team, information about the Link, and tours of the facility.

A key idea behind the Link is that physical proximity is important—that quick conversations by the water cooler can lead to new ideas, partnerships and innovations. The Link aims to attract businesses, nonprofits, and other organizational members who see the value in connecting and collaborating on new projects.

“It’s a Humboldt County-spin on the business incubator,” says Kirk Cohune, one of Greenway’s principals. “The Link is designed for businesses and organizations in the early stages of their ventures. And while the work spaces are open to all types of entrepreneurs, we are focusing on environmental and community-oriented businesses and ideas.”

Link members will have access to workshops, networking events, mentors, and other offerings. The Link also provides space for social mixers, private events and conferences. Events open to the public will explore ways to inspire new ideas, develop local assets, and increase community engagement in creating economic opportunity.

Information about the project is available on the Link website at http://www.the-link.us or by calling Greenway at 707-822-0597.
