Two Fortuna Level 5 Gymnasts Bring Home Medals from State Championships

Two HealthSPORT Fortuna Gymnastics team members competed in the USA Gymnastics NorCal Level 5 State Championships in Oroville on Nov. 9 and 10 and brought home medals for their efforts.
Mackenzie Hall, 11, and Katie Hurst, 12, competed amongst 300 of the best Level 5 gymnasts in the state. They are two members of the six-person HealthSPORT team, and they earned their place at the state championship from their stellar performances at invitationals this year.
At the state championship, Hall competed in the Junior-F age group and earned a 2nd place medal for her floor routine with a 9.55, which was her highest floor score yet. She also earned a 6th place medal in vault with a score of 9.025. Hurst competed in the Senior-D age group. She received a 7th place medal in vault with a 9.0 score and 7th place in the floor routine with a 9.075.
Coach Andrea Knight said she was impressed with how well Hall and Hurst performed.
“It is a great accomplishment to qualify for state and these girls brought home medals,” Knight said. “We couldn’t be more proud of them. Keep up the hard work girls!”
The next competition the HealthSPORT Fortuna Gymnastics team has coming up for two of its other members is the USA Gymnastics NorCal Level 3 State Championships.
