Ribbon Cutting on March 3 for new HealthSPORT Fortuna Location

HealthSPORTHealthSPORT Fortuna is expanding into a bigger facility on Main Street and will open its doors with a ribbon cutting on March 3.

The current location of HealthSPORT Fortuna has served the fitness center well, but “we had an opportunity to have more space in a new location,” said owner Susan Jansson. The fitness center will be moving to 1023 Main Street, and the current location will be closed Friday, February 28, through Sunday, March 2, while staff completes the move. On March 3, the Fortuna Chamber of Commerce will help HealthSPORT Fortuna reopen in style with a ribbon cutting at 1:30pm.

More space is available in the new fitness center by providing a separate space for gymnastics Jansson said. The group exercise space will have more room for classes like karate, cycling, yoga, and Pilates. Jansson said they’re excited to expand the HSP Fit program in the new location as well. HSP Fit is a personal training and small group training program designed for those who want to change up their workout or aren’t currently getting the fitness results they want.

The HealthSPORT Fortuna Gymnastics program has moved to a new, separate location in the Redwood Shopping Center “instead of crowding both into the same space,” Jansson said. In the gymnastics facility, the ceiling has been raised and a full gym floor and tumble track have been added. The HealthSPORT competitive gymnastics team just started its spring season and now they can practice with this new equipment in a bigger space. Other noncompetitive programs like Jungle Gym will be taking advantage of the improvements, too.

“It’s very much an upgrade to the gymnastics program,” Jansson said.

The new fitness center on Main Street will take part in the March 7 Fortuna Art Walk. There will be various activities available for those who stop by to see the new facility, including live music with Frank Anderson.
