Sequoia Personnel Hosted Healthcare Reform Talk for Business Owners
To help local business owners become better educated on the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, Sequoia Personnel Services Inc. welcomed expert David Fear last month to give a talk explaining the details behind the legislation.
Fear is a 34-year veteran of the employee benefits business with a specialization in group health purchasing programs for association and employer groups. His talk, “What Every Employer Needs to Know About Health Care Reform,” addressed many of the frequently asked questions from employers, such as noncompliance penalties and coverage for part-time or seasonal employees. He also explained in detail the reforms already implemented, such as dependent coverage to age 26, as well as the changes that are scheduled for 2014 to 2018, including individual mandates and the employer “Shared Responsibility” mandate.
With so much misinformation circulating about the Affordable Care Act, the staff at Sequoia Personnel Services was excited to bring an expert to discuss the facts behind the law. CEO Liana Simpson said it\’s important that local businesses understand the new healthcare law.
“Business owners need to know how it will impact their business so they properly prepare for the upcoming changes,” Simpson said.
Fear is a former president of both the National and the California Association of Health Underwriters, and currently serves on the board of directors of the NAHU Education Foundation, a 501-c nonprofit organization domiciled in Washington, DC. He is certified in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and has presented numerous seminars on health care reform throughout the U.S.
