Humboldt County-based fitness club HealthSPORT welcomed Brian Cioci as its new fitness director last week and his recently scheduled TRX classes have already attracted much attention from club members.

Cioci comes to HealthSPORT from Bedford, Penn., where he was a fitness program coordinator. He will bring his experience to the Humboldt County fitness community, including his work in designing fitness programs, training celebrity clients, coordinating programs across multiple clubs and working directly with members to reach fitness goals.

To start off his new position at HealthSPORT, Cioci is leading a TRX suspension training course, which uses suspension training bodyweight exercises that develop strength, balance, flexibility and core stability simultaneously using TRX suspension trainers that leverage gravity and the user’s body weight. The three classes scheduled have already filled up in Arcata, Fortuna and McKinleyville, with only a few spaces left. He will also have one traveling class at each of the five HealthSPORT locations.

Cioci is a Master Trainer with a B.S. in Exercise Science, a B.S. in Business Management and an M.S in Exercise Physiology, specializing in pre-surgical and post-surgical rehab, cardiac rehab, weight loss, athletes speed/agility/power, olympic lifting, and mixed martial arts.

HealthSPORT was built in 1992 as an expansion from Valley West Fitness Center in Arcata to a full-service, privately-owned health club in the middle of Arcata Community Park. Since then, co-owner and manager Susan Jansson has opened four additional HealthSPORT facilities in Eureka, Fortuna and McKinleyville, as part of her mission of helping get the world fit.
