Spring Season Begins for HealthSPORT Fortuna Gymnastics
The HealthSPORT Fortuna Gymnastics team kicked off the spring season on January 25 and 26 at the Gymnastics in the Wine Country 2014 meet in Rohnert Park.
HealthSPORT Fortuna Gymnastics has its largest competitive team to date with 13 gymnasts. This was the first meet for the five Level 2 gymnasts, and they performed well and completed all the intended events. Coaches Valerie Caudle and Andrea Knight said the Level 2 team delighted the crowd with their routines and earned a 3rd place team award.
Level 5 gymnast Katie Hurst, 13, had her best meet yet, receiving 1st place on beam and all around, and 2nd place on bars, floor, and vault. HealthSPORT’s other Level 5 gymnast, 11-year-old Mackenzie Hall, also had a great performance, earning a 1st place medal on floor and 3rd place medals on beam, vault, bars and all around.
Level 4 competitors Abbi Diamond, 11, and Saige Grundman, 10, finished strong and helped the team earn 3rd place team award for Level 4 and 5. The four Level 3 team members also performed well.
Knight said the competition was fun and a strong start to the season.
